Pink Lace Vase LF-423-PW

How do they make this? This vase is made using the filigree canes made entirely by hand on the island of Murano. The canes are laid together to create the pattern and fused in the furnace. The master blower carefully wraps the fused canes around his blowpipe and returns to the furnace to fuse the canes into a tube. When it is hot enough to fuse, he clamps the end together to make the bubble and elongated to get the length of the vase. He then uses the jacks to create a line for removing from the blowpipe. It is transferred to the puntie and the mouth is formed and final shape given. A gentle tap off the puntie and a quick trip to the annealer where it slowly cools. A classic 18th century reproduction.
