 This beautiful hanging lamp (ready to install) is created by Arianna and Michele in Murano Italy. This style is known as fazzoletto which means handkerchief and is called this as a result of its shape. See below to learn how it was made. Size is about 8 ½” tall and 8 ½ ” diameter. Made in the timeless Venetian fashion. Bronze colored chain (2ft) completes this, suitable for hanging from ceiling or you can use the Millefiori Murano glass in a standing lamp also.

| How do they make this?This is a labor intensive process. First the canes of glass are laid in a special oven to fuse them together. Then when prepared, they are carefully rolled onto a blowpipe and reheated in the furnace (glory hole in the US) to get the glass hot enough to flow and to blow. Blowing and heating, a large round ball is formed and then transferred to the puntie for final forming. Once on the puntie, heating and working very quickly because the thin walls loose heat quickly and become too hard to work. Finally the rose shaped hollow piece is heated and then hung immediately upside down to create the graceful folds which give its name of handerchief or fazoletto. Resting in the annealing oven until properly cooled. It still needs to have a hole drilled for the lamp fitting. All in all a very labor intensive process.
